The Difference

You've probably tried the 15-minute appointment.

A rushed visit, a quick script, no real conversation. That's not what you'll find here.

Dr. Hughes built this practice around the opposite approach: fewer patients, longer sessions, real relationships, and honest conversation about what's actually working.

Medication when it helps. Therapy when it helps more. Always both on the table.

“Fewer patients. Longer sessions. Real relationships.”

How Dr. Hughes Practices

Four ways this practice is different.

01

Psychotherapy First

Most visits are therapy-focused. That's unusual for a psychiatrist, and it's intentional. A real relationship leads to a more accurate diagnosis and a more effective plan. Expect weekly 45-minute sessions.

02

Evidence-Based Medication

Dr. Hughes is licensed to prescribe and uses medication thoughtfully, reviewing risks and benefits with you openly. The goal is always the smallest effective role for medication, not the longest.

03

Integrative Care

Research in nutritional psychiatry, lifestyle interventions, exercise, and meditation gets pulled directly into treatment. Evidence-based, no side effects.

04

Telepsychiatry

HIPAA-compliant video visits from your phone, tablet, or computer. Same rate as in-person. Available across Oregon and Washington.

Common Questions

Quick answers. Anything else, ask Harper.

Do you take insurance?

Dr. Hughes is out-of-network, which means you'll pay directly and can submit for reimbursement. Ask Harper for the specifics based on your plan.

How often will I come in?

Most patients meet weekly for 45 minutes. That's how real progress happens.

Can I do this entirely over video?

Yes, if you live in Oregon or Washington. Same quality of care, same rate.

What if I don't want medication?

That's completely valid. Many patients do only psychotherapy. Dr. Hughes will never push medication when it isn't the right call.

Is the 15-minute consult really free?

Yes. It's a two-way fit check, and you won't be charged.
